Laws vs Grace

A Famous sheep farm in Australia has no fences. Many people ask why the sheep never run away. The farmer simply answers, “We’ve built a big waterhole in the middle of the farm, and the sheep don’t want to go far from it”. God draws us to Himself and changes us not through laws (fences) but through grace (the waterhole). Laws try to force us to be good, while graces makes us want to be good.  Grace means there is nothing we can do that will make God loves us more. And there is nothing we can do that will make Him love us less.

Hire the Holy Spirit

Our inner worriers prefer to work the night shift. So we stir awake, then we stay awake. And we walk through our days unrested, unnerved and unprepared for what life might throw our way. The thing is, worry is a horrible tenant. It lives rent-free in your soul, and furthermore, it demands to be paid — with the deposit of your precious thought life. Paul says there’s a better way: “Don’t fret or worry,” he wrote to the Philippians – and to all of us. “Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4:6, The Message) Fire the worry-wart. Hire the Holy Spirit.
