Ons as christene het ‘n gesindheid begin inneem om dit wat vergeefbaar is, onvergeefbaar te maak. Jesus het soveel deurgemaak in Sy journey op aarde en toe Hy die dag aan die kruis sterf was dit met ‘n doel. Sy kruisdood het vir ons vergifnis gebring vir ons sondes, ons verkeerd; (ons verslawings, ons verkeerde gesindhede, ons losbandigheid, ons negatiwiteit, skinder, leuentaal, ongehoorsaamheid …) Hoekom dan terwyl ons weet wat die Here ons al voor vergewe het, is dit so moeilik om ander om ons te vergewe. Hoekom is dit so maklik om eerder te oordeel en te kritiseer. Dit terwyl ons eerstehands vergifnis geproe en ervaar het en sooo oneindig dankbaar was toe ons besef het daar is vir ons foute genade! Wat het van ons geword? Wat het van ons christene geword? Ons is veronderstel om ‘n veilige hawe te wees en al wat ons doen ons sit mense terug in tronke terwyl daar vryheid vir hul aangekondig is!

In summarizing the history of these Israelite cities, God likens them to two sisters who became harlots at a young age (23:3,19) and continued their practice to an old age (23:43). Instead of being faithful to God, they constantly turned their affections to nations like Egypt (23:3) and embraced all of their idols and false worship. The people of Samaria also became infatuated with the might and religion of Assyria (23:5-7), and incorporated its immorality into their lives.
